Could You Imagine Interviewing Your Younger Self? Stoney Emshwiller Is Doing It !
You read that right. Stoney Emshwiller is actually traveling back in time to have a chat with his 18-year-old self. He's 56 years old right now. Stay with me on this – I'm not crazy
You may think from reading that that "Stoney" is a stoner. I'd rather think of him as a very imaginative filmmaker. He's taking on the challenge to create a film called "Later That Same Life". What he basically did at 18 years old was Creative film where he asked questions and left a space in the shot for an older version of himself to be inserted later.
Split Screen photography has been around for a very long time. so that's nothing new. But this is a very interesting use of it, and he's very convincing. I found a "sizzle reel" on YouTube with excerpts of what he has in mind for a full length film. He is trying to get this "time-travel talk show" funded on a crowd-sourcing site. Take a look at this.
Love it! I sincerely hope he gets it funded and up on the big screen. Supposedly he has raised almost all of the $10,000 he needs, , but here is the Rockethub website in case you are interested. I'd love to talk to this guy. It's a very cool idea.
What would you ask YOU? I have to think about this for a second… I'm going to have to sit down and have a long talk with my present self to figure out what to say to my former… I'll get back to you on that.
