This past August, developers proposed a plan for a new open air mall in the spot where Latham Circle Mall currently resides. This past Tuesday, the Colonie Town Board approved the idea.

According to the Times Union, The mall will be renamed the Shoppes of Latham Circle and will contain a number of shops, restaurants and possibly a grocery store chain. The adjacent Lowes will continue to stand as well as the movie theatre and the JC Penny store. I am kind of surprised the JC Penny will stay as I hear many people complain about the moldy smell in that particular store. Demolition of the remaining parts of the mall will begin in January and construction will hopefully begin the following month.

Another project was also approved Tuesday night as the project called the Village of New Loudon will continue to grow. Already apart of the project are the brand new Berkshire Band and Rumors Salon and Spa. The next phase that was approved calls for Condos and an Apartment complex as well as more retail stores and office spaces.

It will be nice to see what comes about when both these projects are finished, especially the Shoppes Of Latham Circle. That mall is in such an prime spot that its a shame that it's been wasted all these years.
