On Saturday Night December 1, 2012 tragedy struck Clifton Park High School students on their way home from a UAlbany game.

Seniors Chris Stewart and Deanna Rivers, both 17 and athletes at the Shenendehowa High School, died in the crash. Reported by YNN, the Northway (I-87) accident was caused by another vehicle driven by Dennis Drue, who was driving under the influence. Drue hit the vehicle Stewart was driving, killing Stewart and Rivers, and injuring another Shen student (Mathew Hardy) and a Shaker High student (Bailey Wind) also in the SUV.

While such an unnecessary accident should have never happened, everyone in the community is filled with sadness, anger, and heartbreak for these young lives that were cut way too short.

The Shenendehowa Central School website is asking students to wear green on Monday, December 3, 2012 to honor their fellow classmates.

Many students have decided to wear green tomorrow (Monday) in honor of the students from Shen involved in the tragic car accident and blue on Tuesday in honor of the Shaker student. All are welcome to join our students and show your support and concern for all of the students, families, and staff impacted by this terrible tragedy.

Please leave your thoughts, comments, tributes, and messages in the comment box below to honor the lives of these local students.
