Chris Stapleton added another powerful performance to his growing resume in Las Vegas on Sunday night (April 3), rocking the crowd at the 2016 ACM Awards.

The breakout country star and his wife Morgane blended their made-for-each voices in an incendiary performance of the soulful "Fire Away," a track from his Album of the Year-winning debut album, Traveller. Wailing away over the top of a simple, straightforward arrangement, the couple did what they always do, turning in a strikingly stark, emotionally and musically honest performance that didn't need any fancy staging or embellishments to make it work.

Stapleton was practically unknown a year ago, and Traveller was a critically acclaimed but mostly little-known project until the night of the CMA Awards in November of 2015, when he made one of the most surprising awards show sweeps in history. He topped it off with a star-making performance with Justin Timberlake, and in the wake of that sudden mega-exposure, Traveller leaped to No. 1 on Billboard's Country Albums chart.

The highly-respected singer also gave a standout performance at the Grammy Awards as part of a tribute to B.B. King. He led the 2016 ACM nominations, scoring nods in some of the most important categories, including Vocal Event, Song, Album and Male Vocalist of the Year. Stapleton won an early award, taking home New Male Vocalist of the Year honors in a surprise announcement earlier in the week. He also won Male Vocalist, Album and Song of the Year Sunday night.
