Calling all comic book dorks like me! If you would like to attend a Comic Con but don't want to go all the way to New York City or L.A., you can go to one right here in the Capital Region! It's going on July 11th at the Schenectady County Public Library (99 Clinton St, Schenectady, New York 12305) from 10a-4p.

Their Facebook page says:

SCPL is pleased to announce our first ever comic convention. Comics and graphic novels for all ages have been a part of America’s reading experience for many years. We are coming together to celebrate this medium and the artists who captivate our imaginations.

This convention will introduce you to new books, authors, and the art form of comic books and graphic novels.

Some of the features of the day include:

-Keynote presentation with the author of the popular G-Man comics Chris Giarrusso
-Panels and workshops for parents, kids, teens, adults and educators
- Costume Contest
-Meet and purchase books from talented comic book authors and illustrators
