People and TMZ are reporting that Charlie Sheen will sit down with NBC's Matt Lauer on Tuesday morning and reveal that he is HIV positive.

NBC News has announced that Sheen will make a "revealing personal announcement" in an exclusive, live sit-down interview on The Today Show, but no more details have been revealed.

Some sources say Charlie has known for more than 2 years that he was HIV positive. Charlie is now claiming that he has allegedly been taking meds for the HIV and has had a series of blood tests, and over time, the virus has become "undetectable" in his system.

Doctors disagree.  Most say that once HIV is detected in your blood, it's there for life.  But one thing is for sure, AIDS and HIV are about to be thrown into the spotlight again.

We'll find out more about Charlie's story Tuesday morning.

It was some 24 years ago this week that Magic Johnson made the announcement that he was retiring due to his HIV diagnosis and changed the face of the disease forever.
