Celebrating Carrie Underwood’s Birthday
She is less than 30 years old, and probably the most popular performer to come out of Fox’s “American Idol“, not to mention having one of the most powerful voices in country music, being able to cover a ballad like “Jesus Take the Wheel“, and the more rockin’ “Last Name“. . Carrie Underwood, the singer-songwriter and also actress, from Muskogee, Oklahoma, is celebrating her birthday today. Born on March 10, 1983.Carrie stopped by the WGNA studios last year, before her concert at the Times Union Center. I did get a chance to meet her. Out of all the celebrities we get to meet, she’s one of the only stars that I was actually nervous around and I don’t know why.
She’s only had three albums: “Some Hearts” (from 2005), “Carnival Ride” (from 2007) and “Play On” (from 2009), and all three are some of the biggest selling albums, ever.

Carrie has won numerous awards. Some of the awards include “Top New Female Vocalist of the Year”, “Female Vocalist of the Year and “Single of the Year” (for “Jesus Take the Wheel”) at the ACM Awards, in 2006. In 2007, she racked awards at the Grammys, for “Best Female Country Vocal Performance” for “Jesus, Take the Wheel” and “Best New Artist”. “Before He Cheats” got a Carrie awards for the ACM “Video of the Year” and the CMA “Single of the Year” in 2007, and leading up to “Best Female Country Vocal Performance” for “Last Name” at the Grammy Awards in 2009. She has a five American Music Awards, four Grammys and six Academy of Country Music Awards. Some of her other award recognitions are from CMT, Billboard Magazine, People’s Choice Awards, the Gospel Music Association and Teen Choice Awards.
In the “television” department, other than “ Fox’s “Idol” and co hosting the CMA Awards show with Brad Paisley a time or two, we have seen Carrie on tv shows like PBS’s “Sesame Street” (as Carrie Underworm), CBS’s “How I Met Your Mother”, NBC’s “Law and Order: SVU and even her own “Carrie Underwood: An All-Star Holiday Special” on Fox.
Carrie is married to Nashville Predators hockey player Mike Fisher: formerly from the Ottawa Senators. Jake Thomas had a story about this: Because of her husband being traded to Nashville, an Ottawa radio station banned Carrie’s songs from being played. (This is fine-we’ll keep Carrie to ourselves) Because of some threats on Facebook from Carrie’s fans, the radio station altered their “Carrie Ban” statement.
So let’s all wish big happy birthday to Carrie Underwood.
