It might be easy to think about public transportation only for daily work commutes, but the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) can get you to some of the areas biggest attractions.

Here are just five of them.

You can plan your route and find schedules online here. (Remember, the CTDA recently finished rolling out its new Navigator fare system with new smart cards and app-based passes. They'll stop accepting the old paper passes March 31.)

The amphitheater and its associated venues, situated in the 2,400-acre Saratoga Spa State Park, hosts Live Nation concerts, dance and the Freihofer's Saratoga Jazz Festival. Upcoming performances include Keith Urban (June 27), the 107.7 GNA Countryfest featuring Rascal Flatts (July 7), and Jason Aldean (July 15). 108 Avenue of The Pines, Saratoga Springs.

They have more than 180 retailers, 10 sit-down restaurants, a food court and faster food options, an escape room and an IMAX theatre. Build-A-Bear is hosting Easter events each weekend this month, Lucky Strike Social has trivia every Sunday, and Easter Land (featuring the Easter Bunny) is open through the end of the month. One Crossgates Mall Road, Albany.

The home of the Siena Saints college basketball can seat up to 17,500 people. Upcoming events include the Albany Empire arena football home opener (April 14) and Alan Jackson (April 28). 51 South Pearl St., Albany.

About 11,000 people work in the state government center, which spans 10 buildings on 98 acres. Information on daily tours are available here, while event and ticket information for The Egg Performing Arts Center is listed here. (Plaza leaders suggest using these GPS coordinates—N 42.650674, W 73.760061—for directions in mapping programs; 100 South Mall Arterial, Albany, works in the CTDA route map.)

This Schenectady theatre hosts Broadway shows, large screen films and local performers; the upcoming schedule is online here. It's also home of our station's Secret Star Acoustic Jam (already sold out for April 25). 432 State St., Schenectady.
