Song Parody

I had a rough start today on the air.  I attempted to perform this song live and it didn't work.  My "drummer" was not cooperating.  Long story.  So I went into the 'GNA Parody Room and cranked this out for you folks in Voorheesville (is that spelled right?)

Early to bed, early to rise-exercise, exercise, exercise!  (I don't know if that was the original saying, but I tweaked it!)  Exercise has to begin with the young.  How young?  How about first graders?  Not only are they great exercisers, they're even better rhymers!

This is a sequel to my other blog about one of the funniest/most embarrassing things that has happened to me in a very long time.  I don't know if any of you have experienced this mix-up.  It actually ended up working to my advantage, oddly enough.  Let me tell you about it in song!

I had a whole heap of laughs today.  Two devoted WGNA fans, Rebbecca Castillo and her mother, Ruth Smith, decided to take on the challenge of presenting Toby Keith's Red Solo Cup from a woman' point of view.  So in the spirit of equal time, we present Rebbecca's song parody - recorded right at our studio!

Welcome to 2012.  Everybody's got their resolutions to keep.  Mine?  I want to write a theme song for every town, city and hamlet in the Albany area.  I got a good start in 2011, but it's a New Year, and there's still lots of work to be done!

It's the new board game that's sweeping the nation.  I couldn't believe this, but my aunt and uncle asked me to play the other day!  I had no clue they had ever heard of it.  They're way cooler than I am!  But now I'm into it as well - however, I refuse to become hooked. Are you?

Out of all the rhyming I do in a given year, this little piece is always the most challenging, for some reason.  What events do you include in a year end song?

This class thought I was crazy.  I asked Mrs. Nugent's class at Saddlewood Elementary in Colonie if  if they thought they could create and record an anti-bullying song in an hour or less.  I got varied responses at first.  But like every class I've ever worked with, they succeeded, and it was AWESOME

Did you know that there's a diference between Galway the village and Galway the town? Did you know that there are only about 200 people there?   That's so great!!  The things you learn when research the towns, villages, hamlets and cities in our area for Your Town Thursday!  I love this job!

I'm proud to say that this year, the Readin', Writin' and Rhymin' program has partnered with the Academy for Character Education at Russell Sage College, Rensselear County Executive Kathy Jimino's office, and Mayor John McDonald of Cohoes to take a strong stand against a growing trend in America-BULLYING.

I took a little trip today to the little town of Northville, NY for the Readin', Writin' and Rhymin' Tour.  It's a nice little town near beautiful Lake Sacandaga.  And I met some REALLY nice little residents-first graders to be exact!

Do you know the old saying, "you had to be there to appreciate it"?  This is one of those times.  In fact, every experience I have in these classrooms has to be seen to be believed.  I'm almost speechless when I talk about Mrs. Compton's class at Boght Elementary School
