Song Parody

This was a major thrill.  I've done little things here and there over the years, but there was so much of a time constraint in the past for local acts that it really was difficult.  That's what I loved about this year's Countryfest the most - it gave a lot of Capital Region artists  the chance to show their wares, and the Lost Cantina Band was nice enough to let me do the same.

We're countin' it down.  Very excited.  I've tried to make it a tradition to rhyme some of the rules of Countryfest, so here we go, using an Eric Church song as the parody

It seems that every place I drive lately, there is road work.  In Niskayuna I was riding my bike through a small neighborhood, and even THAT road was ripped up.  You have to constantly dodge those darn cones.  Hmmm--brings back an old parody, and I mean REAL old.

Looks like we're wrapping up yet another school year.  I can't believe it myself.  Once again I have about 25 class appearances under my belt, and each one has been a blast.   This was no exception - Joseph Henry Elementary in Galway

In honor of the hard working Administrative Professionals out there - or shall we say Secretaries?  Can I say that?  Warren Buffett calls his Administrative Professional a secretary, and she doesn't mind.  Is this insulting? I'm just wondering how you feel, and I'm going to now wonder in song form for you

That's right, Mr. Headline writer.  I am really in a seriously bad mood about my physician.  How's yours?  Do you have one you could recommend who actually RECOGNIZES YOU when you come in, even though you've been going there for YEARS?  I could go on and on, and I will (in song parody form)

There are many Saratoga bar owners who are enraged about the the possibility of closing bars an hour early.  On such owner has decided to take a tip from Richie's playbook and write a rhyming editorial

Once again, I experienced a 24-hour period where I couldn't wipe the smile off my face.  It happened right after I visited Slingerlands Elementary School. These kids love to read and SING - what a perfect fit for the Reading, Writing and Rhyming Tour.

I had quite the experience today .  I might be smiling about this one for the next week!  I spent the better part of the day in a town that was vaguely reminiscent of my hometown - Salem, NY!   I actually had two very good reasons to go there!

There's a fantastic new country song by Billy Currington.  You must know the one.  It's called "Like My Dog" , and basically asks the musical question to a significant other, "How come your not more like my dog?".  Well, I thought there was another animal that deserved equal time here!

I loved the participation from all the folks in Waterford.  It made writing even MORE fun than normal, and I appreciate it.  I even had a Facebook friend suggest the song to parody, and it turned out to be a great idea, even if it was a song from 1905!

Note: Please re-read that headline.  I'm not asking who you would necessarily vote for.  We try to stay non-partisan on our show.  I'm asking who you think on the Republican side has the best chance against the Barackster.  I think I have the answer, and I would like to do that musically if you don't mind (but again, I'm not taking sides)
