Reading, Writing, & Rhyming

This started out as a four-county anti-bullying song, where one school would write one verse, the next one in another county would contribute another etc.  Well, it looks like I just couldn't stop at four. Then again, why would you? Let's spread the word to as many schools as possible, right?

You just HAVE to listen to these first graders from Ms. Pink's class at Jefferson Elementary as they say the Pledge Of Allegiance on the Sean and Richie (and Bethany) Show. Very cute, yet very professional!

I am really psyched about this event. Something totally different, and I hope you can join us.

Another labor of love has been completed.  It's always a pleasure working with the school – Poestenkill Elementary. As predicted, they didn't disappoint! They did a fantastic job writing and recording their portion of this anti-bullying song that I am putting together.

I feel like a kid myself here. I'm getting more and more excited about how this is turning out! It's a song that schools in four different Capital Region counties are helping to create. The message?  DON'T BE A BULLY. The school helping out this week?  Jefferson Elementary in Schenectady County.

This is a first - to create a song with four different elementary classes in four different counties. The topic: bullying. We're on a mission  to end it, and I want to do my part by helping to create a "jingle" with kids from all over the Capital Region.

It's that time of year again - sharpen the pencils, get out the brand new notebooks and get ready for another school year ( who am I kidding - for all I know, the kids all have iPads!) Be that as it may, I am taking sign-ups for the Reading, Writing and Rhyming Tour for this year.  There is a quick and dirty form below and also a slideshow to demonstrate the program, in case you were wondering!  R

I loved this spirited little group of writers and rhymers from the Bethlehem, NY YMCA.  It was their summer camp, and it was raining cats and dogs, so they actually had no choice but to be in this room -LOL- but they were really patient and came up with a great song parody.

This is now year 19 of the Reading, Writing and Rhyming School Tour. It's unbelievable, but it's true.    Besides being on the air, it's the most fun I've ever had behind a piano.  And the fun's about to continue. In fact, I'm DOUBLING the appearances this year to give more schools a chance, and to give me more of a chance to meet YOU!

This was a special visit, as it was an invite from Griswold Heights Community Center in Troy  in association with Phil Fusco and the Academy for Character Education at the Sage Colleges.  Enough of the formalities - let's hear their Planet Song!

Let's give these kids their "props".  They sat there outside in sweltering heat to write a song about ....the HEAT!  What a great group. Let's hear what they came up with!
