I'm pretty easy-going when it comes to germs. I protect myself by washing my hands, I got my flu shot but it pretty much stops there. Well, these pictures did it, I may never use a hand dryer again.

While visiting the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, it was eye-opening how they understand the needs of the patients and their families. There is a wall inside the hospital that deals with the ABCs of Cancer. It is a powerful and moving display from the children's perspective.

Newborns at hospitals across the Capital Region are sporting knitted red hats to raise awareness for American Heart month. Thousands of volunteers have been working hard to make sure all the new babies are wearing a red knit hat.

So I got the flu this year. I have been in isolation in my bedroom since I was diagnosed. Fortunately, I made sure that my dog Freddie stayed away from me too, and it's a good thing because I found out he could catch it too.

The flu season is upon us and there haven't been many cases reported in our area yet. However, the New York State Department of Health is saying that this is a severe strand and if you got the flu shot, it may only be 10% effective.
