Day 2 of the 2015 Taste of Country Music Festival was straight-up packed.

Some of the best concert pranks are pulled off by country artists. From the king of practical jokes, Brad Paisley, to the usually mild-mannered Martina McBride, almost everyone gets in on the action.

Country music was once known primarily for its traditional, twangy sound, but a new generation of artists are ushering in a completely different era. And as these artists have dared to branch out, they prove the validity of the statement: "With great risk comes great reward."

Okay, so there was a fair amount of disappointment around the 2015 Academy Award nominations. Everything was not awesome for ‘The Lego Movie,’ robbed of a Best Animated Movie nod, and David Oyelowo’s dreams of a Best Actor nomination vanished when Steve Carell and Bradley Cooper’s names were mentioned instead. ‘Force Majeure’ got snubbed for a Best Foreign Language Film nomination and ‘Selma’’s Ava Duvernay was robbed in the Best Director Category. I just keep looking at the list of nominations and playing “Sad Trombone” over and over again. It’s basically the official theme song of the 2015 Academy Awards.

After playing what I think is the saddest Christmas song ever on the show today, I started thinking about all the sad country songs that have made their way into our lives over the years.
