July 4th

Every Fourth of July we celebrate this amazing country we live in but I feel like, personally, sometimes I take it for granted. All I had to do was be born in this country and I had citizenship, for others it's harder.

It's the time of the year again to load up a blanket, some lawn chairs, and a picnic so you can go out and enjoy the fireworks comfortably.

Growing up in Mechanicville, we always had the most amazing fireworks displays. Mechanicville was the home to one of the most world renowned fireworks companies called Alonzo's. They have since sold their business, but I still have appreciation for a great fireworks show on or around the 4th. Get ready to celebrate with the big shows in our area.

If you are getting ready to celebrate the 4th of July with your own stash of fireworks, you should know if you are breaking the law by setting them off.

It seems as soon as there was potential for Uber and Lyft to be in the Capital Region, people couldn't stop talking about it, it was the only thing that would make the 518 perfect. Now, we're not going to have to wait as long as expected.

I'm not a huge fan of buying fireworks. I don't have anything against them and I've been to parties where friends of mine have gotten them but I've personally never gotten them myself. As a Schenectady resident, guess I'm now really not going to be able to buy them.
