If you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past few days, you missed out on some big news: Country-star-daughter-turned-pop-princess Miley Cyrus is engaged! 19-year-old Cyrus’ longtime boyfriend, actor Liam Hemsworth, popped the question last week. On the red carpet at the CMT Music Awards (okay, actually it was purple carpet), award-winning country star Carrie Underwood gave some marriage advice to the happy couple.

Underwood has been married to her husband, hockey star Mike Fisher, for nearly two years. But even so, the country songstress admitted in a recent interview that sometimes she finds it hard to believe that she’s really married. We take that as a sign that the two lovebirds are happier than they ever imaged they’d be.

As an experienced married woman and music star, the ‘Good Girl’ hitmaker offered up some advice to the young bride-to-be. “Just take it easy. If you can be engaged for a while, plan everything slow and take your first couple of years just to really hang out,” she said to Miley Cyrus via Extra TV, admitting that even she wishes she could have been engaged a bit longer.

We imagine that Underwood, now 29, understands the value of waiting. Though she and Fisher wed in 2010, it wasn’t until 2011 that he was traded to the Nashville Predators hockey team and they could officially live together as husband and wife. The pair will celebrate their second wedding anniversary on July 10, 2012.
