When most of us think about the holidays, we think about gifts, family and friends, and food.

Here’s something that will help you get into the holiday spirit and help out our Albany-area food banks and hunger issues. On the night before Thanksgiving, November 27 at 6:45 p.m. bring your friends and family to see the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train which will be making a stop in Schenectady at 1910 Maxon Road.

You will see 14 brightly decorated rail cars. According to their press release, the train will be arriving and pulling up to a safe stop in front of you. The stage door will lower and music will begins as a band opens with its first song. After that, a brief ceremony and some other formalities takes place, and then the band will resume its show playing a variety of holiday themed tunes. After about a half hour the band will play its farewell show. Then, the boxcar door closes, and the train slips off into the night on its way to its next destination. During its stop in Schenectady, you can donate food and money which will go to Albany-area food banks.

The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train has been going since 1999 and travels all over the United States and Canada. Everything raised in each community stays in that community, and Canadian Pacific makes additional donations at each stop.
