Brantley Gilbert and his wife Amber learned the sex of their baby recently, and shared the news with fans on Tuesday (June 6). They're expecting a baby boy, but the way they revealed is what has everyone talking.

True to character, the "Bottoms Up" singer used a rifle to learn if he'll have a boy or girl. A target was filled with appropriately colored confetti — Gilbert busted it and it rained baby blue paper. People has photos of the event, which was attended by about 40 people.

"When the blue cloud went up, well, that made it even more real," Gilbert says. "Now we know it’s a little boy, and he’s gonna have to get ready for a whole lot of love."

The baby is the couple's first. They announced the pregnancy last month, calling it a miracle and detailing some troubles conceiving. Earlier this year the 32-year-old told Taste of Country he was ready to start a family, but was very nervous (or even terrified) about having a girl.

"You hear people say that have daughters, 'Oh, I’ll go to jail,'" the singer says. "But no, I really will — I’ll go to prison. If a dude comes up my driveway that looks, talks, acts anything like me I’m going to stab him as many times as humanly possible."

It turns out that's not a worry. Gilbert says his wife suspected she was having a boy. It's not clear exactly when she's due, but she's at least 16 weeks along, meaning mid-fall is a good estimate.
