Brad Paisley has finally joined the throngs of country stars sharing photos and videos on Instagram. However, his first post wasn't about what he was eating, or the cool vacation he was on. Instead, it was a lot more meaningful.

The singer took the opportunity to give a shoutout to our troops while on a surprise visit to Afghanistan with President Obama. "So this is Bagram, Afghanistan," he explains in the short video. "The Country Nation Tour took an unexpected detour this weekend -- it really is a world tour now. This is Memorial Day weekend, God bless our troops."

Paisley, along with the President, arrived at the Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan on Sunday (May 25), and Obama had lots of encouraging things to say about the fan-favorite star.

"First of all, he’s a great supporter of our troops, a great supporter of your families," says Obama. "Two years ago we had him at the White House to perform for troops and military families during the Fourth of July celebration.  Him coming here today was not easy."

"He had just started a tour and he had to juggle a lot of stuff and had to try to figure out how to explain it to people without explaining it to people, and his wife and two young sons, and promoters and agents -- and without going into details, this was a big sacrifice for him.  And he did it because he cares so deeply about you. So I'm so grateful to him."

In addition to his 'slight' detour with President Obama, Paisley is certainly keeping busy this summer, with a judging role on ABC's singing competition show 'Rising Star' and a forthcoming studio album, 'Moonshine in the Trunk.' He'll also be headlining the Taste of Country Music Festival on June 14 in Hunter, N.Y.
