New York State police are warning Capital Region residents about another telephone scam happening now.  When you answer your phone, the caller states a that a loved one has been involved in a car accident.  They go on to say that the loved one will be arrested unless money is sent.  They are requesting money be sent to a location outside of the United States.

A few safety tips to remember when you get callers asking for money:

Be sure you know the company/caller is legitimate.  If you have never heard of them or they as you more questions than you are comfortable with, do not give them any personal information.

If you receive a call like this, report it to the State Police.
