County Waste has partnered with us to honor those in our communities who are truly making a difference.

All throughout 2016, we will be recognizing one “hero” per month based on their inspirational feats, work helping their neighbors, and everyday passion.

This month we honor Walter H. O'Neil Jr., a retired Fabricator from Berlin, NY. Walter's daughter (and nominator) Amy says her dad, aka Jolly Wally, served in the Vietnam War and the Marine Corps, but his giving back to the community doesn't stop there.

Walter has been involved in the Berlin Fire Company for four decades, as well as numerous other local clubs and organizations. He's always keeping busy walking the town, working on his own projects, or helping a neighbor with theirs. He got the nickname 'Jolly Wally' from a local restaurant he and his wife used to operate. If you see Walter out and about, chances are he'll have a cigar in his mouth and a smile on his face.

This month we honor you, Walter, thanks for always going the extra mile! Click here to see how you can nominate a hero for the month of December, and stay tuned for our special way of saying thanks below-
