A body was recovered from the Hudson River in Albany on Wednesday. Today, an autopsy will be performed to help determine the identity.


On Wednesday, the body of a white male was found along the Corning Preserve in Albany. Although not their jurisdiction, Troy detectives went to help recover the body. Troy police believe this could be the body of Matthew Labounty. Labounty, 21, from Poestenkill, went missing Christmas day. He was last seen walking toward the Menands Bridge around 2 am.

You could see police activity and a police helicopter Christmas Day as they searched along the Menands Bridge for any signs of Labounty.
An Albany man taking a walk along the Albany preserve noticed the fully-clothed body partially submerged in mud around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Police do not suspect foul play in this death.
