Today, Mrs. Garth Brooks AKA Trisha Yearwood celebrates her 48th birthday. I have been a Trisha fan ever since her first song "She's In Love With The Boy" hit the airwaves. I have said on numerous occasions that she is one of the reasons, along with her now hubby Garth, that I am the country music fan that I am today!
It was announced recently that country superstar Keith Urban has been officially named a judge for the upcoming season of American Idol. Along with him will Be Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and the lone original judge Randy Jackson.
Yesterday was the first race in the chase for the Sprint Cup Championship at Chicagoland Speedway. The winner was Brad Keselowski who has had a very impressive year by winning 3 races during the regular season and staying very consistent to solidify his spot in the chase. He beat out 5 time cup champion Jimmie Johnson who lead most of the race.
Today John Berry Celebrates his 53rd birthday. I thought it would be a natural choice to feature one of his great songs from the past for this week's edition of Flashback Friday. We go go back to 1995 for John's top 5 hit "Standing On The Edge Of Goodbye".
There was a time when I wouldn't play any of the silly games on Facebook. FarmVille, CityVille, Mafia Wars, the list goes on and on! I would get invites for these silly games to the point where i would almost tear the remaining hairs out of my head.
There was a alot of excitement last summer as a Hollywood movie was being filmed right here in the area. Sometimes movies will be said to take place in one city, but actually be filmed someplace completely different. The Place Beyond The Pines is not one of those movies, this film takes place in Schenectady and surrounding areas and was actually filmed here too.
This Friday, GNA will be having our last party cruise of the summer as we set sail on the Hudson on the Dutch Apple. I plan on being there to have a good time with many great GNA listeners. It's a great way to kick back after a long week and get ready for the weekend. There will be plenty of liquid refreshment, whether they be soft drink or of the adult variety and our very own Brother Lou Roberts will be the man cranking out the tunes during the 3 hour party.
Earlier this year I posted a video of some great bloopers from news stations around the country. Well, since that time many more slip ups, photobombs and other silliness has happened and it was all all caught on tape. You gotta love live TV.
It's time again to bring it back and remember another great country song and video from the past with this week's edition of Flashback Friday. This Week we head back twenty years to 1992 for Confederate Railroad's very first single, "She Took It Like A Man".
It's that time of the year again, the nominees have been announced for the 2012 CMA awards. For the second year in a row I want to congratulate our own Kevin Richards for being nominated for Medium Market Personality of the Year. I have worked with Kevin for 12 years now here at GNA and I know he is a very hard worker and certainly deserves this honor. Let's take home the trophy this year Kev!
Now on to the other nominations as I make my yearly predictions:
I am not sure if anyone has seen the RIP's on Facebook or Twitter. But there have been many sorry to hear that Bob Denver, the man who played Gilligan on Gilligan's Island has passed away. Yes, it is true that he is no longer with us, but he died just about 7 years ago in 2005.
