In a story from the Times Union, a Piper PA 35 airplane crashed around 5:00 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2013, at the start of the Memorial Day weekend. The Associated Press is reporting that the plane is part of Angel Flight, which is a volunteer organization that provide transport for sick patients that are in critical condition.

A statement was posted on the Angel Flight website from the founder and president of Angel Flight, Larry Camerlin, he said that the “Angel Flight NE staff and volunteers are tremendously saddened by this tragedy and we all offer our thoughts and prayers to the families of those affected.”

The plane was in route to Rome, New York, from Bedford, Massachusetts. Some of the witnesses mentioned that they noticed the plane seemed to be having some engine problems, and saw the airplane circling the area.

According to a story from The Newscenter/ABC 10, there are pieces if the plane scattered across a field for about one square mile. The search is continuing and the FAA is still investing the crash.

Our prayers are with the families of the victims of this very sad incident.
