Technology keeps changing the world we live and work in and it looks like putting your car on autopilot may be next.

Last month General Motors announced it will introduce advanced "intelligent and connected" vehicle technology without too much fanfare. GM said that in about two years, an all-new 2017 Cadillac vehicle will offer customers an advanced driver assist technology called Super Cruise.

Super Cruise is the working name for GM’s automated driving technology that will offer hands-off lane following, braking and speed control in certain highway driving conditions.

The system appears to be similar to cruise control - designed to increase the comfort of a driver on freeways on long trips but also in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

Although it stops short of being a fully self-driving car, it seems Cadillac will be the first automaker to market a vehicle that can drive itself under certain conditions.

Do you remember the old Greyhound Bus slogan - "Leave the driving to us"?  It looks like if the legal and legislative issues get worked out it won't be long before you'll be able to leave the driving to your car!
