his time the caller says that they’re calling from National Grid. It seems that this particular scam is similar to some of the other scams that were reported like the one last month that involved the I.R.S..

The person that claims to be from National Grid tells the victim that their power will be shut off unless they immediately pay their bill.The victims are then told to buy a Money Pak card, and then are given a bogus 1-800 phone number to call. When the victim calls the nimber, they need to give the number of the Money Pak card.

According to the story from WNYT, the New York State Police want to make everyone aware of this most recent phone scam.
