St. Patrick’s Day is next week, but the celebrations start Saturday!

Are you planning on attending this year? I stopped going a couple years ago because Caden was just a baby, but now he’s 5 and I think it’s time to take him. This year seems like the perfect year too.

Albany’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade just got a little bigger. This year, the parade will include a new family-friendly festival. The Irish American Family Festival will feature live Irish music and step-dancing from noon until 5:30 p.m. in Academy Park.

Here is some information to have on-hand for this weekend’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration:

Parade Route: The Albany St. Patrick's Day Parade will begin at 2 p.m. at Central Avenue and Quail Street. The route will head down Central Avenue over to Washington Avenue, turning onto State Street and ending on Lodge Street around 4 p.m.

Parking: $5 parking is available at the Riverfront and Quackenbush garages, open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m..

Remember, NO OPEN CONTAINERS! It’s the law. Have fun, but be careful!
Albany police expect over 25,000 people to attend the celebrations. So, be prepared for a crowded event.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day.
