The Albany Marching Falcons (from Albany High School), will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in a very special way.

They’ll be playing in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, not the parade in Albany. They’ve been invited to play in this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland. The invitation came from Dublin’s Lord Mayor.

The band’s director, Bryan Cady, will be bringing around 40 students for this very honorable and international trip, which consists of students from grades eight through 12. A few years ago, The Marching Falcons went to Washington, D.C. to play in the Memorial Day Parade, where someone took a video. The video was seen by some members of Dublin’s parade committee.

According to the story on WNYT, there was a spaghetti dinner fundraiser held at the American Legion North Albany Post 1610, on Sunday, to help offset some of the costs for the trip. The dinner also was co-sponsored by the Albany Limericks and the Sons Of The American Legion.

Congratulations to the Albany Marching Falcons.
