Albany Area Man Gets Arrested On Valentine’s Day For Allegedly Stealing A Purse Just Before Christmas

A man that stole a woman’s pocketbook from her shopping cart just a few days before Christmas, was arrested on Valetine’s Day.

According to a press release from the East Greenbush Police Department, after an investigation, and then a surveillance tape was released and shown on a tv newscast, some people that knew who it was when they recognized and identified the alleged thief. He’s 22 year-old James Karlquist from Rensselaer.

What people saw on the tape was Karlquist’s pick up truck drive up to the victim’s shopping cart in a parking lot, and take the woman’s purse.

He was booked at police headquarters on February 14, 2013, and charged with grand larceny fourth degree, and also petit Larceny. After his appearance in town court, Karlquist was released to the Probation Department Day Reporting, and will have another court appearance.
