I've been djing country dance parties since the beginning of 1992. That was at Playfields in the Albany Holiday Inn, formerly known as The Holiday Inn Turf on Wolf Road in Colonie. This also included Fenders. Both places are no longer around. There have also been a few other places through the years. There was also Just Country/Buckboard Dance Hall and Saloon in Malta - Also gone.

Kevin Richards has been hosting country dance parties and teaching country dancing for about the same amount of time. That includes WGNA Country Nights at Vapor, in the Saratoga Casino and Raceway. He also has a few other places where you can join him.

Danceland in the Latham Circle Mall

A place called Danceland Boomers was in the Colonie Plaza, but that was gone, too, until now. Danceland has reopened in a new location, in the Latham Circle Mall, complete with a huge dance floor.

Tonight (June 3)  is my debut night to dj there. To get you a little psyched about coming out to dance, I thought I'd share a song that is still a very popular country dance: "Boot Scootin' Boogie" by Brooks & Dunn.

The fun starts tonight at 8 p.m. There is a $7 dollar cover charge. Where are some of the places that you've danced?
