Abercrombie and Fitch, which operates a store at Crossgates Mall, announced today it will close 60 stores.

According to the Times Union, the store closings will happen later this year. Abercrombie has already closed 90 stores in the last 2 years. There is no word yet if this will affect the Crossgates store as the locations closing have not been announced yet. Abercrombie also has a store in Poughkeepsie.

The closing announcement seems odd as the Times Union says the company just reported 'positive sales growth. for the 4th quarter of 2017. But, ,as online shopping grows exponentially this seems to be the direction many retailers are going: they are closing brick and mortar stores as sales at physical locations dwindle.

We'll have to wait and see to if the Crossgates store ends up being one of the 60 affected. One would think at such a big mall our local location would stay open. Fingers crossed here so none of the local employees are affected!
