We first knew about Aaron Hernandez as the tight end for the New England Patriots but in recent years, his name was tainted by the things he did off of the field. As of this morning, he was found in dead in his jail cell.

According to WTEN, the Massachusetts Department of Correction announced that Aaron Hernandez was discovered hanging his his cell at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Massachusetts around 3:05 this morning.

Hernandez used bedsheets and tied them around his single cell window. Hernandez attempted to block his cell door but after he was unresponsive, they entered to check on his condition. After trying to resuscitate him, police brought Hernandez to the UMass Leominster hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Hernandez was currently serving a life sentence for the murder of his friend Odin Lloyd in June 2013 but found not guilty in a second murder trial just last week.
