A Truck Fire Has The Northway Shut Down At Exit 5

Even as I write this I can't guarantee that the situation is still a factor for your commute, but I felt you should be aware in case you are travelling down the Northway this morning.

As I came into work traffic was being diverted off the I87 southbound at exit 5 due to a tractor trailer fire. The fortunate thing for commuters is that because its right at the exit getting off and back on the Northway is a pretty easy process. Of course as traffic increases the slow down will increase significantly.

I'm sure they will have the road open before you know it and hopefully before the majority of travelers are heading to work, we will try to stay on the story and let you know as soon as we can when it has cleared.

All that being said, I can't seem to understand how the actual cargo in this truck caught on fire. Obviously I didn't have a lot of time to really investigate what was happening but have you ever heard of this sort of thing happening?
