After a successful and often controversial career, the Yankees 3rd baseman has announced plans to call it quits.

Rodriguez told ESPN earlier today he will call it quits after the 2017 season when his contract expires. He is only 76 home runs shy of breaking Barry Bonds all time home runs record.

It's funny. A year ago it seemed Yankee fans everywhere were praying that Alex would call it quits after serving a year long suspension for using performance enhancing drugs. What a difference a year, and a bunch of home runs make. But it's funny he chose to reveal this now. Alex in the past has been labeled as a selfish player, and this does kind of make it about him for the next 2 seasons. But according to ESPN reporter Andrew Marchand, it was an unplanned revelation.

Now the debate can begin - will A-Rod make the Hall of Fame? Will the Yankees retire his number?  I say no to both, Even though his image has recovered somewhat in the last year, he still has the stain of PED use on his career.

Do you think he should be in the Hall of Fame?
