A Group Wants Albany To Turn Off The Holiday Lights In Washington Park

There are some people called the Park Conservancy Group that wants the city to turn off and take down the holiday lights in Albany’s Washington Park.

Lights In The Park
Lou Roberts

In a story that I saw on YNN, they say that the displays are ruining the landscaping, creating unnecessary traffic jams in Albany and during the day it’s an eyesore with all the wires hanging in the trees and metal poles.

Thousands of people have made it tradition to cruise through the park and enjoy all of the light displays. The admission to the lights in the park is a way for the Albany Police Athletic League to make money for their organization.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would want to take away something that gives so much enjoyment to others, especially children, whose eyes light up and smile when they see the lights. I actually got angry when I saw this story. How do things like this make you feel?
