There’s going to be an event coming up called “Battle Of The Badges”, and it’s to help The Alzheimer’s Association. Almost every family has been affected by Alzheimer’s Disease. That loved one could no longer remember things, perhaps it happened slowly, over a long period of time. Sadly, many times, Alzheimer’s may have led to the death of a loved one.

Thankfully, there’s an organization that you can call for more information about Alzheimer’s, and give you information and a better understanding. That organization is The Alzheimer’s Association.

There’s going to be a fundraiser to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer’s disease. It’s the ‘Battle Of The Badges’, which is a one day, single elimination softball tournament between local law enforcement officers, which will take place at Joe Bruno Stadium (or The Joe) in Troy, on Friday (June 5). The first pitch will be at 5:15 p.m. The players will be members of the the Albany County Sheriff’s Office, Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department, Troy Police Department, and the New York State Emergency Response Team. Besides softball, there will be several other things going on at ‘The Battle’, like the dunk a cop dunk tank, K9 demonstrations, SWAT vehicles and more. The $25 dollar donation will get you admission to ‘The Battle’, and entry to the Tri-City Valley Cats game on July 5, including the pregame barbecue picnic.

I had a chance to talk with a couple of representatives from ‘Battle Of The Badges’, David Scott and Samara Salvione. They had more information about this event, and we also talk about another group that will be at ‘The Battle’, Blondes Versus Brunettes and their powderpuff football event.

They’ll be my guests on Capital Region Sunday, (Sunday, May 31) from 6:00 a.m. to 6:10 a.m. on 107.7 WGNA They’ll have more information about ‘The Battle Of The Badges’.
