Seven UAlbany students were arrested yesterday after they allegedly hazed four pledges during an initiation for their sorority in the basement of a home in Albany.

 

According to News 10, one student says she was being initiated into a sorority called Alpha Omicron Pi when she other pledges were blind folded, told to get on the ground and forced to eat mud and dirt while having rotten milk, rotten eggs, moldy food and a substance that smelled like urine poured on their faces, mouth and body.

The girls were identified as Katrina Bergvoy, 19, of Albany; Heaven Guanco, 19, of Albany; Monica Vitagliano, 19, of Copiague; Tereyza Martin, 20, Albany; Chinazo Ezekwem, 21, of Albany; Nicole Johnson, 21, of Albany; and Jessica Raynor, 21, of Albany... they were all charged with 1st degree hazing and 2nd degree hazing.

A rep from Alpha Omicron Pi says it has not been a sorority at UAlbany since 2014.

The suspects were issued appearance tickets for the Albany City Criminal Court.
