Normally, birth isn't exactly news worthy and when it is it's something pretty crazy. Ya know, like that time a woman gave birth on the side of the Northway? That was crazy.

Well, this story is less on the crazy side and more on the almost never heard of side. Akosua Budu Amoako gave birth to her first child at the age of 59. It happened at the Bellevue Woman's Center in our backyard of Niskayuna last Thursday with both mother and baby doing well.

The baby boy weighed in at 7lbs 4 ounces and was born via cesarean section after being carried full term. It seems as if everything went just as a normal birthing process would, though the difference is the age record that's held. Budu is now in a small community of woman in New York State for being the oldest to have given birth within the state.

Obviously, setting a record was not her goal. Her goal? To become a Mother and have a child of her own.

Some I'm sure are curious because of her age, how was this possible in the first place? As it is known, the menopausal process had to be in effect here, right? Yes. Budu had gone through in vitro fertilization at the CNY Fertility Clinic is Latham with her husbands sperm and a donors egg being utilized for the process. The couple has been married for almost 40 years and tried, unsuccessfully in that time to conceive.

It turns out 2017 was the perfect timing for the two, who are now three. Congratulations to the new family!
