The air is getting warmer, tulips are starting to bud. Spring is here!

Aside from it being time to pack away all your sweaters and overcoats, you may be thinking about your yearly spring cleaning "to do list." For some, spring cleaning can be refreshing—it's a chance for you to get in all the deep dark places the winter kept dirty and give them a nice scrub. One of the best rooms to start is the bathroom.

Here are five tips for spring cleaning your bathroom.

  • 1

    Kill Mold in the Tub

One of the first places you'll want to clean in your bathroom is the bathtub, but you're going to want to make sure you give it a deep clean and not just a quick wipe-over. Make sure you use a mold-killing cleaner, such as bleach, vinegar or hydrogen peroxide.

If you want to avoid using chemicals in your tub, try making your own mold-killing cleaner out of baking soda, liquid dish soap and essential oils.

    Shorten Your Shower Curtain

First of all, it will look better if your shower curtain is not quite to the floor but it will also be cleaner if it is not dragging dust and dirt on the ground.

The ideal shower curtain length is three inches from the top of your tub. The plastic liner (which goes on the inside of the tub) can be longer.

    Create New Storage Spaces

There are so many creative and new storage ideas out there, now is the perfect time to give one (or a few) a try.

Have extra towels you need stored away? Why not mount some decorative baskets on the walls. Another good one to try to hide toothbrushes is to mount self-adhesive cups on the inside of cabinets.

  • 4

    Reorganize Your Products

Remember that lotion you bought last year, used once and then threw under your sink? Chances are if you haven't used it in a year, you probably don't need it.

Go through all the products you have in your bathroom and throw out the ones you haven't been using. Then, sort the remaining products by category, like dental hygiene products, hair products, etc.

    Ditch What You Don't Need

The best part of spring cleaning is spring purging, so now is the perfect time to go through everything in your bathroom and throw out what you don't need. This will help you make room for new things—or just feel like you have a cleaner space.
