One of my favorite things to do is grab the tent and sleeping bags and head out into the wilderness for a relaxing weekend. If this is your idea of a great getaway, here are 4 great Upstate NY campsites you need to visit!

As we gear up for summer and you start to plan some camping trips, here are 4 amazing waterfront sites you should check out:

Letchworth State Park

In 2015, Letchworth won the USA Today Reader's Choice Awards for the Best State Park In the nation (Watkins Glen came in at #3). Based on the photo above, you can see why.

Saranac Lake Islands

Nothing is more private and serene than camping on your own island, right? Check out one of the 87 water access only sites on Saranac, including some on islands.

Cranberry Lake Campground

Located in the Northwestern section of the Adirondacks,  Cranberry Lake Campground offers fishing, boating, hiking, or just a great spot to kick back and relax. And more waterfront views -- ya gotta love that!

Cherry Plain State Park

A little closer to home, Cherry Lane State Park in Petersburg also offers waterfront camping. There are plenty of hiking, biking, and nature trails. Plus there is a beach!

This will be my first full summer in Upstate New York, and with great destinations like this around, it will be a fun and relaxing summer! And a busy one travelling ;)
