2012 Country Idol Finals – Contestants Annouce Song Selections

The auditions for Country Idol 2012 concluded with some of the area's finest singers ready to compete for the Grand Prize of $5,000. On Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Vapor in Saratoga Casino and Raceway, 26 finalists will give it their best in our Northeast talent search for the next Country Idol.

January through May monthly auditions were held with rotating judges to bring the top 5 from each night to the finals. A tie for fifth place in two different months led to 27 contestants, with one dropping out, the result is 26 people singing for the title.  The final performances will be narrowed down to the Top 5, who will come back later in the night to sing a second song for the grand prize.

The final judges for Country Idol include GNA's Scott Blaine, Richie Phillips, Saratoga Casino's Rita Cox and The Audiostars' Jay Yager. Singers are scored by each judge on appearance (10 points), stage presence (15 points), and vocals (25 points).  The audience reaction is also important to the judge's final scoring, so make sure you are there to support your favorite contestant.
